Outside-Inside-Out

Coming down from the Society of American Music listserv is news that Pharoah Sanders will be awarded the society’s honorary membership for 2013.  The 2013 Society of American Music conference will be held in Sanders’ hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas from March 6-10, 2013.  While the conference schedule won’t be out for a few months yet, there will be an improvisation seminar and based on the call for proposals there should be some Arkansas and/or southern music based research presented.  No details on whether or not Sanders will perform at the conference, but I hope so, because I will be going.  Information on the conference can be found here.  Stay tuned….
